Shelly Jean's "Exit Stage Left" Story
I left the Adult Entertainment Industry of 17 years a broke and broken millionaire.
I had danced my way to being number one Entertainer of the Year three times.
I did not have the mentors and or coaches to assist me to make better life decisions.
I flew by the seat of my pants every single day.
There was no money plan in place other than the rent, car payments, utilities, food and gas for my family.
I was able to create what we required on the daily and weekly.
This happens even in the serving, tipping industry.
I was in the tipping industry, in the Entertainment Side of our business. We were showy. Glamorous, beautiful, tens working the floor. We were topless entertainers.
I worked with all others. Bartenders,barbacks, DJs, Servers, Valet, Doormen,
Floormen, hairdressers, bathroom attendants.
We had it all. We all made our money daily, weekly, and by tips. If you were not working, you were not making your money.
Entertainers were independent contractors. Self made.
We did not have bouncers, we have security. We were a very elite club.
We were a show club. Vegas style. Very upscale.
As you stepped out of your car, and stepped onto the curb, You were greeted by the Doormen who were sharply dressed in suits. Smiles from ear to ear, very warm, friendly and inviting. They made you feel right at home the second you stepped on the red carpet.
They treated us very VIP.
Walking into this theater type atmosphere, you can feel the elegance.
The very first thing I noticed was this enormous chandelier hanging in the middle of the room that I later learned has been there for many years.
This building has history. It is a historical landmark and we have the privilege to use it for entertaining.
The entertainers. They were as elegant as the chandelier. They were all tens.
Beautifully styled, dressed to the nines. It was as if I had walked into a runway show and a theater show all at the same time.
There was a standard for this type of business and show. There were no tattoos showing, no piercings and all were wearing long formal evening gowns. Make up and hair eloquently done. Masterpieces, every single person in this place from the doormen to the servers, barbacks, DJ’s, floormen. The experience walking in was surreal.
I had never seen anything quite like it in my life in the cities. I have seen it in Vegas.
It was breathtaking.
You must be saying to yourself, “How long did she work here,!”
I believe if the Guiness Book of World Records had a record for this, I would win! I was the ONLY entertainer to never have left and worked for another club. I was at this club for seventeen years. Solid.
The life expectancy of any dancer is seven years. Many people came and went throughout the years, the reason I stayed. Family. They were and still are my WHY for everything I do.
Now, it’s to assist you in making different decisions to create a life for yourself outside of this industry.
When I walked into this club the first time, I was telling myself it would be for one year.
Seventeen years later, I retired. This club gave me the best retirement a retired and tired dancer could ask for.
